Recently, students worked in small groups to experience the transfer of energy in different collision scenarios. They were given 2 cardboard ramps and 3 cars to run their trials. Observations were then logged into their science notebooks with their explanations for the different outcomes.
In math, we are collecting data to graph. This week students measured their group's heights in inches. Next week, we will graph our data and hopefully travel to first grade to measure our buddies so we can compare the data.
Social scientists used latitude and longitude to find points on a map of the USA. We had fun figuring out the clues and destinations!
Below, students are creating posters of our science unit vocabulary. They worked cooperatively (and creatively) to design the posters. We will upload our work to SeeSaw this week!
Our first unit of math is behind us! Students explored different ways to make arrays to figure out the factors of different numbers. They were then challenged to find the multiples of numbers.
Our first experience with the transfer of energy! Students sent marbles along a ruler groove to collide with different numbers of marbles on the track. They then wrote about their observations in their journals. What a fun way to explore science!
