In science, we have been experimenting with transfer of energy in collision. Students took tennis balls on the playground to see what happened when they dropped the ball, slammed it, and tossed it in the air. They were able to determine that the energy of the drop affected the energy of the bounce. What a fun way to learn!
In math, we have been working on multiplication, factors, and multiples. We took a break to use flashcards and Multiplication Bingo to brush up on our facts.
Our second lesson in science this week involved seeing how energy transferred from an object dropped from 30cm. to objects placed on a table. It took careful observation, but students were able to determine that the larger the object that was dropped, the greater the reaction of the objects on the table.
At the end of the week, we visited our buddies to read The Leaf Man by Lois Elhert. Students worked with their buddies to create leaf men and women of their own. It was fun to visit with the first graders.
It's so great that Buker has an assistance dog and our favorite time of the day is when Serenity comes to hang out with us! We had an AWESOME week!
