This week was our first full week! By Friday, we were all tired but we agreed it had been a great week! Some of the highlights included our latest science scope where we made ramps for model cars. We measured the ramp in 5cm. increments and sent the car down at each waypoint. After the experiment, we regrouped to discuss. Students made the claim that the higher up the ramp, the further the car traveled. We attribute this to an increase in potential energy, which when unleashed leads to an increase in kinetic energy. See below for pictures.
Later in the week, we explored the artifact bags for social studies. People brought in such diverse items! The small groups determined what kind of social scientist would be interested in each artifact. What a fun way to begin our social studies year! See the pictures below for students at work!
And last, we were able to finalize our Class Constitution. We all signed it and it hangs to help us remember expectations for our classroom.
