The day before the Thanksgiving break, we spent a very enjoyable hour with our first grade buddies discussing what we are thankful for and making colorful turkeys. What a great way to end a short week!
When we returned from the break, we worked on several science experiments. Students investigated waves and amplitude by first dropping objects into tubs of water. The second experiment involved students making a beach in their tub and investigating how waves affected the beach and how waves affected the course of a boat in the water. Students made predictions and then defended their findings in writing.
To end our week, we met with Mrs. Aikins' class and students worked to build pyramids out of Solo cups. Working as a team, they used pieces of string, a rubber band, and cups - but were not allowed to touch the cups with their hands. They had a great time and learned a lot about team work!
