Recently we met with our first grade buddies to measure and graph their heights. We compared first grade to fourth grade heights. Students are learning to compare, graph, and interpret their data. Students are becoming adept at identifying typical numbers, the mode, and outliers from their graphs.
| In science, we continue to explore the different ways energy transfers. In this experiment students dropped a variety of balls to determine how and why the drop affected different objects. |
We are working on several writing assignments. Here, students are working on editing and adding to their personal narratives.
| Using photographs of locations, students continue their map study of the United States. They were able to identify locations using elevations, latitude and longitude, and landmarks. |
Students were tasked with developing their own measurable questions which they then graphed. Students used iPads to time how long students could hold breath, jump on one leg, stand on one leg (Miles!), and other tasks.
| A really fun science activity was to create a motion machine. Students used dominoes to transfer energy from a pendulum across dominoes. All of the designs were developed, tested, refined, and retested. |
We ended the week with Mrs. Aikins' class where we tested out our ideas and collected data.
