This week we began to experiment with multiplication. We used colored tiles to explore the different ways we could make equal groups. After exploring, we began to build arrays to help us visualize multiplication. The end of the week saw us beginning to learn about factors and how to break numbers into their factors.
On Thursday, we experimented with batteries, wire, and Christmas tree lights to test different electrical configurations. We had the pleasure of the company of the two third grade teachers, Mrs. Orlando and Mrs. Bernardo who came to see how the science curriculum spirals into the fourth grade. Students found that a circuit must be complete to allow the transfer of energy from the battery through the wires and into the lightbulb to make it work. Bravo, scientists!
